Study on the non-linear deformation and failure characteristics of EPS concrete based on CT-scanned structure modelling and cloud computing

To understand the complex deformation features and failure mechanisms of expanded polystyrene (EPS) concrete reveal composite effect beads polypropylene fibers, a series experiments were conducted on poured EPS specimens. Meanwhile, cloud computing system for 3D realistic process analysis (RFPA3D) was established to model fine real structure. The micromorphology specimens obtained via CT scanning further processed using digital image processing technology. Otsu algorithm applied automatically recognize segmentation thresholds each partition procedure designed realize merging. Then, numerical models reflecting microstructures built images simulations performed cloud-computing-based RFPA3D. results show that with low volume fracture, non-smooth convex-step-shaped morphology, which is typical brittle fracture characteristic, appears. In contrast, ductile occurs high fracture. Simultaneously, addition fibers certain length can effectively prevent formation expansion new cracks in cement matrix. addition, peak strength increases an increase homogeneity while residual generally decreases homogeneity. Moreover, more heterogeneous material presented acoustic emission precursors before macro All these achievements greatly improve our knowledge design, construction, maintenance civil engineering.
